There’s a new portable game console in town that’s plugged into an ever-crowded area. Ayaneo 3 is the latest version from the manufacturer portable device, after last year’s Ayaneo 2S. This Windows-based handset is an improvement over its predecessors in almost every way.
Ayaneo 3 will be available in several different versions. Buyers can choose between two processors, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or the Ryzen 7 8840U. The HX 370 is a more powerful option and offers “an extraordinary handheld gaming experience with AI support.” It’s worth noting that the 8840U should still be able to run many modern games, as the company says it’s a good choice for “gamers who prefer classic powerful performance.”
People can also choose between two display options. There is a model with a serviceable 7-inch LCD screen and a 7-inch OLED screen. Portable devices really pop with OLED screens.
Each model has a new back button design to provide a “richer button combination experience”. The company says the design is “ergonomically optimized” so that human fingers can easily reach those back buttons. There’s also a trigger lock feature to offer improved “control in both popular and retro games.” Otherwise, the buttons on the front and the angled joystick layout are familiar.
The front-facing speakers have been refreshed here, with Ayaneo promising “more impressive sound than expected.” It said they were developed in “deep collaboration with audio experts” and will offer “low rumble” and “depth and clarity”.
That’s all we know for now. Ayaneo says it will release more information soon, including new features and “more control updates.” No price or release date yet.
