X now lets blocked users see your posts

X has a block button changed. It now allows blocked users to see posts from the accounts that blocked them, but they still can’t interact with those accounts. You also cannot follow or message the user.

X previously said it made the change because users can now see and interact with blocked accounts by switching to an unblocked account. X also said that the old way blocking could be used to share and hide harmful or private information about the people they blocked, so the new feature allows for “greater transparency”.

Social media abuse experts disagree, saying the changes will help stalkers and trolls. “Allowing blocked users to see posts is aiding and abetting abusers and stalkers, condoning and facilitating their behaviour,” London’s Victims’ Commissioner Claire Waxman wrote last month.

While this makes it difficult to change feedback on X, changes may be against the rules in the iOS and Google Play app stores. Apple first states in its developer terms of service that any apps with user-generated content must offer “the ability to block users who abuse the service.” Sure, there’s still a block button, but it doesn’t block anyone anymore.

Amazon just launched a new tool that uses artificial intelligence to create personalized summaries for Prime Video.
