Kia debuted two new concept cars today at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas. A true standout at the company’s SEMA announcements The PV5 is a concept EV van. Called WKNDR, it builds on Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicles approach to modular design, which it introduced earlier this year. .
The PV5 uses an adaptable storage solution called the Gear Head, which can perform multiple functions, including an outside, protected storage area for outdoor gear when the van is stationary. It can be powered by solar panels on top and hydro turbine wheels.
Kia also unveiled the EV9 ADVNTR concept EV SUV at the event. It is an all-electric vehicle with a special roof and a combination of off-road wheels and tires.
The company did not provide any details on pricing or availability dates in the press release. Based on the limited information we have about Kia’s PVB production plans, the modular WKNDR van probably won’t hit the road (or charge on the road) until next year at the earliest.
