FBI warns voters about inauthentic videos relating to election security

The FBI issued a statement on Saturday about the hoax videos circulating in the run-up to the election, saying it was aware of two such videos “falsely claiming to be from the FBI in relation to election security.” This includes one claiming that the FBI “caught three affiliated groups committing ballot fraud” and Kamala Harris’ husband. Both depict fraudulent content, the FBI said.

The spread of disinformation, including deep political hoaxes and otherwise misleading videos and images, is a major concern ahead of the US presidential election. In a statement released on X, the FBI added:

Election integrity is one of our highest priorities, and the FBI works closely with state and local law enforcement partners to respond to election threats and protect our communities as Americans exercise their right to vote. Attempts to mislead the public about FBI operations undermine our democratic process and undermine trust in the electoral system.

Just a day ago The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said they had tracked down two more videos of “Russian influence actors”, including one “depicting impersonators”. Illegal voting in many states of Haiti and Georgia.”
