A new Star Wars show will be released in just over a month. Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew It will premiere on Disney+ on December 3 with two episodes. The streamer released a new trailer to prove it.
For the uninitiated, it’s a live-action show set at the same time and or about ten years after the events Return of the Jedi. We don’t know much about the plot, except that suburban kids find a spaceship and go on an adventure.
If this reminds you of some classic movies from the 1980s, you’re not alone. It’s all an homage to Steven Spielberg, Amblin, and the many kid-friendly adventures of that decade. People called him “Goonies in space”, but a more modern reference to “Stranger Things in space”.
The trailer also showcases one of the things I’m personally most interested in with this show. Some of them are located on inhabited planets, probably core worlds like Coruscant. There are suburbs and schools. There are those who go to work. We don’t have many glimpses of how ordinary people live in a galaxy far, far away. This is my jam.
The showrunners here are Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, who directed the last Spider-Man movies for the MCU. The cast consists of mostly unknown children, including an alien elephant who has no relation or connection to Mos Espa leader Max Rebo. However, Jude Law is in it. Most likely he’s playing a Jedi, though there might be a twist.
