Ubisoft stealth released an NFT game absolutely no one needs

A new tactical RPG game from Ubisoft for PC requires NFT to play it. Per Ubisoft Quartz, the publisher’s NFT platform, has been released Tactics of Champions: Grimoria Chronicles without much fanfare.

Not really presented as a Web3-based game in the trailer, apparently NFTs are as popular for investment as Blackberry phones or fax machines. However, it still plays a big role Tactics of Champions. The game starts with a few free temporary figurines to get you started, but you’ll need to buy your own NFTs to compete using in-game currency or cryptocurrency, which can reach thousands. The top figurine, Swift Zealot, will set you back $63,000.

Ubisoft launched to a wave of backlash just under three years ago. The announcement video on YouTube garnered more than 35,000 dislikes within 24 hours, prompting open criticism from consumers and workers who felt its environmental impact was not worth the risk. The release included a set of 15 NFTs in the form of skins and weapons . The publisher sold only 18 NFTs in its first week.
