Last month at Meta Connect, Mark Zuckerberg said that Meta AI is on track to become the most used generative AI assistant in the world. Zuckerberg said during the company’s recent earnings call that the company has already taken a significant step toward that goal, with Meta AI surpassing the 500 million user mark.
The half billion user mark comes just a year after the social network launched its first artificial intelligence assistant last fall. Zuckerberg said the company still expects it to be the “most used” assistant by the end of 2024, though he never disclosed how the company measured that metric.
Meta’s assistant isn’t the only AI tool powering the company’s business. Improvements in AI-powered feed and video recommendations have led to an 8 percent increase in time spent on Facebook and a 5 percent increase in Instagram this year, Zuckerberg said. According to him, advertisers are also using the company’s AI tools, with more than 15 million ads created with generative AI in the last month alone. “We believe there’s more to it,” Zuckerberg said.
Apart from AI, the application of Meta Threads also continues to grow. According to Zuckerberg, the service currently has “almost 275 million” monthly users. “It’s growing by over a million signups a day,” Zuckerberg said, adding that “engagement is also growing.”
