A fired Disney employee allegedly altered menus to change allergy markers


As someone who is allergic to a large sect of foods (you gluten-free eaters!), I know how important allergy markers are on a menu. However, a new criminal complaint A former Disney World employee claims the menu intentionally changed allergy information so that it did not, in fact, contain peanuts. 404 Media and Judicial review informed in cooperation.

The complaint alleges that he was fired by Michael Scheuer Disney and then still used valid passwords to access a custom menu creation and inventory system created by a third party. In addition to adding profanity, changing prices and changing the font in Wingdings, he also changed the allergy information during his misdeeds. These wings were what initially alerted workers. All the menus in the database were deemed unusable and the app went offline for a week or two to fix the issues.

Disney changed the passwords, but then Scheuer alleged that a third-party hacked multiple FTPs of the company to change allergy markers and change QR codes, redirecting the menu to an Israeli boycott website. He also attempted to access Disney employee accounts approximately 8,000 times. Disney claims the changed menus were determined before they were sent to restaurants.

This case has nothing to do with a the doctor who died of an allergic reaction after dining at a Disney Springs restaurant last year. Notably, Disney tried to throw out the lawsuit in August by claiming that the doctor agreed to settle her husband’s claims out of court. The reason? He signed up for a one-month Disney+ trial in 2019 and again when he opened an account to purchase park tickets.
