It’s easy to get cynical about writing about tech. There are many and iterative improvements. Companies as if it were a magical potion sent down from the gods. Those who were fired . But sometimes you find something simple, useful and fun that forces optimism. I’m here with the Vizio MicMe. It’s a sound bar that works like a karaoke machine. That’s a neat idea, isn’t it?
MicMe is advertised as a “two-in-one soundbar system” that completely eliminates the need for a complicated stand-alone karaoke speaker. This is a legit 2.1 soundbar complete with subwoofer. This will do the job with infinite streams Agatha Along or Nobody wants that.
It also comes with two dynamic wireless microphones, which is where the karaoke magic comes into play. The company says that when one of the microphones is removed from the charging unit, the soundbar goes into karaoke mode without the user having to fiddle with anything. However, there are related mobile apps for making sound adjustments. This app also gives you access to six different vocal effects.
Each mic has eight hours of battery life on a single charge, which means a karaoke session from 8pm to 4am. Vizio says MicMe will have access to 80,000 songs through its proprietary software. It also integrates with many standalone karaoke apps like Stingray. There should be no shortage of songs to destroy or master.
The soundbar hybrid is compatible with Vizio’s QuickFit technology, which allows it to connect to the company’s TVs without any tools. It is also fully compatible with any smart TV with eARC. MicMe costs $350. You can order it now, but it won’t ship until the end of November.
