Apple Intelligence, the company’s all-encompassing branding for its AI tools, features and interests, is finally here. Do you think Apple launched this ages ago? It was announced in June and drip-fed to beta testers first in a developer preview and then in an open preview.
It was even a big part of iPhone 16 sales, but Apple’s newest phones lacked these AI features — until now. Arriving as part of Apple’s updates to iOS, iPadOS and macOS, it’s not everything at WWDC (you’re not creating your own emojis yet), but it’s a set of new features that show how the company is tackling artificial intelligence in its software.
Live transcription is available for phone calls and Notes audio recordings, along with new proofreading and rewriting tools. Apple Intelligence also adds text summaries for websites, emails, and all of these transcriptions. I also have a personal favorite: notification summaries.
We’ll take a closer look at what Apple Intelligence is capable of, but broadly speaking (and from our experience testing the preview build), the additions won’t change the life of your smartphone. Some of them are very useful, while others, like photo editing, leave competitors like Google and Samsung behind.

It has the same design as the last two models.
In time for these new features, Apple’s new iMac includes new color schemes and the latest Apple silicon. The new model has the same display and design as the previous models, but there is a new nano-textured glass screen option for proper clutter. Apple says the M4 inside the new iMac makes the computer 1.7x faster for everyday productivity, and up to 2.1x faster for more demanding tasks (ie gaming and photo editing) compared to the M1-powered iteration. The M4 iMac will be available on November 8 for the same price as its predecessor at $1,299.
Moments are very similar to clips on YouTube.
Netflix is introducing a new feature called Moments that lets you save, share, and re-watch certain scenes from shows and movies. For now, it’s mobile-only, starting with Netflix’s iOS app and coming to Android in the next few weeks. Netflix says episodes and movies will start playing from bookmarked scenes when you rewatch them, with a set of sharing buttons for messaging and social media apps. It is perfectly timed for my ultimate enjoyment Kat and Kim. All four series are ready.
It’s just the Pixel 6 and 7 phones for now.
Google is selling the refurbished Pixel 6, Pixel 6A and Pixel 7 phones directly through the Google Store. The discounts are up to 40 percent off the new models, but we’re on the Pixel 9 now, so there aren’t any new Pixel 6s on sale, at least not from Google. Pricing for the Pixel 6 starts at $339.
