If you are a word and game lover like me, then get ready to join me because there is something new. daily word puzzle type. New York-based art collective MSCHF has introduced an AOL-style chat room Edit-A-Chat that someone censors every time they use a word. Josh Wardle, creator Wordlemost recently he worked there for MSCHF for several years.
So how does it work? There is a main chat room where you can type anything, but if the word is repeated, it is covered with a blue blurred line and is unavailable for the rest of the day. I got to test this early on and it seems that repeating words in sentences also causes the second note to blur. All words become fair game again at midnight. Announcements of newly censored words and time restarts come from three single-eyed security pins reminiscent of the Microsoft Word security pin.
MSCHF said in a statement that Redact-A-Chat “enforces creative communication. You have to constantly be ahead of the censor to keep your conversation going. On the other hand, you can be an a-hole who starts working his way up. the dictionary to deprive everyone of language.’
If you are not sure about participating in the main room, you can start a chat just for your friends. You just click the create chat room button, give it a name and it will appear. You can then invite other people to the group with a unique code.
