Single player Squadron 42set within Star Citizen universe, has been delayed until 2026. This is interesting because the developers said the game was “feature complete” last year. Squadron 42 first announced in 2014 and live throughout .
The stated reason for the delay is to apply more polish. Chris Roberts, head of Cloud Imperium Games (CIG). he’s “confident” the title will make it to the 2026 release window. To satiate die-hard fans, the developer has released an hour-long gameplay video featuring the opening segments below.
Roberts also told the convention participants Squadron 42 It will feature “30-40 hours of gameplay”. He noted that there is still some work to be done to “bring the quality of the game” to the level shown in the gameplay video.
Squadron 42 is a first-person game featuring infantry exploration and combat, ship piloting and more. It features a fully assembled voice and mocap cast, many of which are showcased in the gameplay video above. The cast includes Gary Oldman, Henry Cavill, Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis and Sophie Wu, among others.
There’s also the matter of the parent game Star Citizen. It is not yet ready for full release In 2012. However, the game has an active alpha community and is still racking up impressive crowdfunding numbers. Not all, there is CIG for the title in the last 12 years.
