Peripheral maker 8BitDo has announced when you can get the 64 Controller. It is designed to work with upcoming It will support 4K output. it’s open now. It comes in black or white to match Analog 3D and will ship on March 19th.
It looks like a peripheral version 8BitDo’s Ultimate controlleralbeit with only one thumbstick and six control buttons on the face — A, B and four C buttons. There are four bumper buttons, and it looks like you can use either trigger instead of the original N64 controller’s Z button (the peripheral is completely replaceable thanks to 8BitDo’s Ultimate software).
The controller has an octagonal door around the thumb, in a nice nod to his father. A Hall effect sensor and a wear-resistant metal joystick ring should ensure that there is very little chance of suffering from stick slippage. The peripheral also has a built-in Rumble Pak. This works with both Analogue 3D and Nintendo Switch. 64 Controller is also compatible with PC and Android devices.
The original trident-shaped Nintendo 64 remains striking after nearly three decades. Most people don’t have three hands, Nintendo! So for anyone looking to emulate an N64 game with a controller that actually makes sense, this looks like a strong contender.
Pre-orders for Analog 3D also opened on Monday. When writing, the black version is still available. Unfortunately, the console doesn’t come with a controller, so you’ll have to buy one separately if you need one.
