Hades II just received its first major updateThat’s the whole reason for my inspired roguelite jump back. Supergiant Games is calling the Olympic Update “practically mountain-sized,” presumably featuring a new region in the Olympus Mountains.
With a new region comes new story elements. The studio says that “hours of new dialogue” have been added to the game. There will also be two new allies in the region, but Supergiant remains mum on their identities. In other words, you’ll have to go through Olympus to find out. Given the area, I’d bet some Obol Points are Greek Gods of one sort or another.
The update also includes a new primary weapon, two animal companions, and “dozens of new cosmetics” to liven up Crossroads. Now there is even a world map, which will be displayed when moving from one region to another. It’s a minor flourish, but it’s pretty fun.
There are also dozens of quality-of-life improvements that will appear throughout the game. These include faster weapon attacks, new special moves, a more responsive dash, and a refined aiming system. Finally, the game now works on Macs as long as the computer has an Apple M1 chip or newer.
Despite loading new features, the game is still in early access. Supergiant says it there won’t be a final major content drop it still remains in early access, as another major update is due early next year. So we are looking forward to it. The first game was in early access for nearly two years as it slowly evolved into the game we know and love today. Hades II only about five months.
For those who don’t know, Hades II is a roguelite hack-and-slash action game with fluid controls, a variety of upgrades, and a story that expertly weaves itself into each failed escape. there is also a cute cat you can be friends with. This is the sequel to the mega-hit Hellwas the first video game never won a Hugo Award.
