Nintendo’s new Switch bundles are here. As the seven-year-old console takes its victory lap ahead of the Switch 2 standard switch and OLED model now available in new packs announced in September. Each of the systems is packaged with purchase codes for a 12-month Switch Online membership Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The price of the standard package is $300, and the price of the OLED variant is $350.

The basic package includes a standard Switch with a 6.2-inch LCD and red and blue Joy-Cons. Meanwhile, the OLED console features a 7-inch OLED display and white Joy-Cons. For just $50 more, the latter gives you extra screen real estate OLED’s richer colors and deeper blacks. While the standard model still looks good, comparing them side-by-side makes it hard to pass up the $50 more expensive OLED.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been is one of the console’s flagship titles Shortly after the arrival of the console itself in 2017. Originally released for the Wii U, the Switch update of the racing classic adapts the controls well to the portable system. The game’s optional smart steering feature helps make the game more fun for those who often drive off-road and spend the next 30 seconds getting back into the game as their opponents hug them. (Raises hand.) The game looks great on the Switch’s screen, especially the OLED, and runs in enhanced 1080p mode when docked.
Meanwhile, Go online allows you to play online Mario kart 8 and many other titles along with cloud-based savings. You also get access to hundreds of old school games from the NES, SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance, N64 and Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) eras. There you’ll find Nintendo’s own Mario, Zelda and Metroid classics, as well as plenty of third-party fare to keep you entertained.
The biggest caveat to this bundle is that the Switch 2 (or whatever Nintendo calls its successor). on the horizon. Although Nintendo has yet to announce a successor, the company is rumored to do so anytime soon. Later, a more powerful processor, more RAM and storage and support are expected NVIDIA’s DLSS enhancement technology. But even if Nintendo does launch the console soon, it’s not expected to arrive until 2025, so there won’t be any options for this holiday season.
