Fisker faces more bad news as the SEC starts investigating its business practices

Fisker has struggled to stay afloat since last year’s disastrous launch of the Ocean SUV, which failed to gain more than a few thousand sellers despite producing more than 10,000 units. After reporting a 35 percent gross margin loss in the fourth quarter last year, the automaker announced it will lay off 15 percent of its workforce next March as it shifts to a direct-to-consumer sales strategy.
