Games Done Quick, organizing organization charity game marathons has announced its latest fundraiser, featuring top speedrunners. will hold a group event Disaster Relief Runs Out Quickly In support of Direct Relief, a humanitarian nonprofit organization to help those affected by Hurricane Helene, it announced in a tweet and press release.
“Hurricane Helene [was] A life-threatening Category 4 hurricane that killed more than 200 people, left millions without power, and caused significant flooding and evacuations in the southeastern United States.” Games Done Quick wrote. “Disaster Relief Done Quick October 11, 6 p.m. It will begin and end at EDT. Oct 13 11:59 PM EDT.”
From October 11th to the 13th, we’ll be holding a Disaster Relief Out Fast event to support those affected by Hurricane Helene.

If you’re interested in watching, you can do so at GDQ Twitch channel. A number of speed runners and broadcasters have already introduced competitions on the games included Zelda: The Four Swords, Sims 4 and Tony’s Hawk’s Pro Skater series.
Past GDQ events have raised huge sums for charity, including Great Games Ends Soon 2024 raised $2.5 million for cancer research Summer Games 2024 is over soon ($2.55 million for Doctors Without Borders). Back in 2017, the organization collected $225,000 for Hurricane Harvey.
