If you have an older Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you may want to wait for the latest software update. Over the past few days, an update from Samsung has been reported to unify the devices in the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 series phones. The publication also found that some users reported the same problem with the Galaxy M51 and A90 models. After downloading the update, devices get stuck in a download loop and never fully boot up.
Affected devices can perform a factory reset to restore functionality, but this is not a perfect solution. This should make the phone usable, but any data not already backed up will be lost. If you have an older Galaxy smartphone and haven’t downloaded the latest update yet, you may want to disable automatic updates until Samsung shares more information on the matter.
Firmware for older models can be a problem for any hardware manufacturer. The Galaxy S10 and they are now five years old, which is the age at which companies can stop regular updates.
We’ve reached out to Samsung for comment and will update this post with any additional information.
