Ring is rebranding its subscription products, giving up Ring Protector Ring Home brings some new features in its favor and to celebrate. The most notable change is the addition of 24/7 recording, which ensures you won’t miss a thing if a motion alarm isn’t triggered if you have selected wired video doorbells. You’ll also get video clip previews sent via push notifications instead of waiting for the app to open.
In addition, users can now get Extended and Continuous Live View options for their cameras, allowing them to watch what’s happening when they need it. For example, Extended Live View will increase the camera viewing time from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, while Continuous will completely remove the limitation. You’ll also get Doorbells, which trigger a phone call that connects directly to your smartphone when someone is at the door.
The prices for each of the new Ring Home levels will remain the same as their prices Ring Protect predecessors, finally now. Home Basic is $4.99 per month, Home Standard is $9.99 per month, and Home Premium is $19.99 per month. Not surprisingly, Extended Live View and Doorbells are unlocked in the Standard tier, while Continuous Live View and 24/7 recording are unlocked in the Premium tier.
As for why the tiers are being changed, it’s to allow users to lock in additional packages from Ring’s growing ecosystem of security products. It says that when the change starts on November 5, you’ll be able to add Virtual Security Guard and Alarm Professional Monitoring to the same plan.
