Verizon mobile customers reported widespread outages across the US on Monday. Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. ET, hundreds of thousands of people reported problems with their cell service. Lower detectortracks user-submitted outage reports. The volume of reports peaked at almost 105,000 at 11:20 a.m., but fell back to almost 59,000 at 12:52 p.m.
Many people claimed that they were unable to make or receive calls or exchange text messages. Those with an iPhone see an “SOS” icon in the top right of their screen instead of the usual contact bar. This is a common sight when there is limited or no service. However, affected iPhone users can still make emergency calls through other networks.
Lower detector heat map It suggested the issue was most prevalent in New York, New Jersey, Georgia and elsewhere on the east coast and midwest. As of 1:10 PM ET, a narrow band of yellow reports was also forming on the west coast. Along with the intensifying heat spot in Los Angeles.

Verizon has confirmed that service is affected for some customers. “Our engineers are busy and we are working quickly to resolve the issue,” the company said He wrote in X 11:48 a.m. The reason for the cut is still unclear.
As of 3:45 PM ET, Verizon had not yet provided an update on the outage via X. User outage reports are still coming in to Downdetector, but there were about 48,000 of them as of 3:10 p.m.
At 5:04PM ET, the company tweeted that “service has been restored,” and reports of Downdetector outages dropped below 30,000.

At 7:18 p.m. ET, the company tweeted that its engineers “have fully recovered from today’s network outage.” Downdetector outage reports have dropped below 3,500. The company has yet to say what caused the outage.
