Meta has been steadily improving Threads’ compatibility with fediverse over the past year. Now, the company is taking another major step forward with an update that lets users see more details about their followers and interactions with people from other servers on fediverse.
So far there are Threads revealing answers Notified Mastodon and other servers and users about likes on their posts from other fediverse programs. But a Threads user had no way to see details about their followers from these services. That’s changing now, Adam Mosseri he explained in a post.
With the update, anyone connected to fediverse sharing on Threads will be able to see a detailed list of their followers from other servers and view their profiles. This will allow the people at Threads to better understand their reach and audience in Mastodon and other apps.
Threads’ fediverse support is still somewhat limited overall. Users still cannot reply to replies from applications outside of Threads, and there is no way to search for people on servers other than Threads. There is still a delay in cross-shipping; A post from Threads will now take 15 minutes to appear, as the meta has also expanded editing window for posts.
Elsewhere, third-party developers are also making it easier for users who want to publish to multiple decentralized services.
