Nintendo has shut down another emulator, this time Ryujinx. The software was an open source emulator for playing Nintendo Switch games on Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. In a message shared with the emulator’s Discord server today, it was reported that the developer has been contacted by Nintendo to stop work on the project. No further details were provided regarding the terms of that agreement. The same message was posted on X:
The emulator will still work for anyone running it, but the Github repository has been removed. Ryujinx also made some headlines for launching a new one last month More games than Far surpasses the Switch’s capabilities.
Nintendo has taken an aggressive stance against emulators, even teaming up with them To try and prevent game piracy in 2023. Ryujinx is one of the most popular emulators out there, but the gaming company has also taken it up a notch settlement with the Yuzu emulator in March. It made a great publication testing and removing all Yuzu code posted in various Github repositories in May.
