It’s Meta’s turn to step up and host a developer conference. This year’s Meta Connect will take place on September 25th and 26th. While the bulk of the event will focus on how developers can get the most out of Meta’s products, most of the real news will likely come from the launch’s keynote and developer keynote. Run back-to-back starting September 25th at 1:00 PM ET.
You will be able to watch the keynote live on Facebook . there is also a possibility “A virtual experience inspired by the Meta campus in Menlo Park.” Meta has also shared keynotes on their YouTube channel in previous years, but it’s not possible to stream the event live there until Connect ends.
The Connect keynote will feature Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg discussing advances in mixed reality, artificial intelligence and wearables. The company also promises to preview new products and features. These could include a pair of augmented reality glasses codenamed Orion that executives have been teasing for quite some time.
We too waiting to see A cheaper version of Quest 3 called Quest 3S. Leaks suggest that it could sell for $300, which is significantly less than the $500 Quest 3. The Quest 3S could make it easier for the Meta to finally ditch the Quest 2, which debuted in 2020 and is significantly less powerful than the Quest 3.
Elsewhere, at Meta Connect, Ray-Ban may announce an update to its Meta smart glasses. Meta and Ray-Ban owner EssilorLuxottica recently renewed their partnership, so there’s that either now or in the future.
Additionally, there will be plenty of AI talk at the developer keynote starting at 2PM ET. We’ll likely learn more about how it’s used in Meta headphones and smart glasses. As a result, the open source Llama large language model is expected to be the subject of discussion.
