See the iPhone 16’s game-changing battery removal process in new iFixit teardown

Apple has introduced some basics range, but nothing stands out as much as the new battery removal process for the basic iPhone 16. Ditching conventional pull tabs, Apple uses glue that closes in response to low electrical current. According to Apple, it only takes a minute and a half to pop up . A fall shows the process in action and it looks easier than ever. iFixit tech Shahram Mokhtari said, “I’m not sure the battery removal process went that clean and smooth.”

Only the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have the new adhesive, and they earned a 7/10 on iFixit’s repairability scale. “Apple is definitely moving toward repairability,” Mokhtari said, adding that thanks to the new battery removal procedure, Apple has “taken another winner in repairability” with this year’s flagship iPhone models.
