A PS5 system update squashes those pesky Final Fantasy XVI bugs

Sony pushed Friday’s PS5 system update, which Square Enix says is the answer Final Fantasy XVI errors created by the console’s latest firmware update. Publisher addressed Update on X (Twitter). “In response to crashes and graphical errors in the PlayStation5 version Final Fantasy XVI, [Sony Interactive Entertainment] released a new system update,” the account posted. “Please try to download and install this update.”

Before today’s alleged fix, users reported that a PS5 system update (24.06-10.00.00) had been launched last week. Final Fantasy XVI accidents happen when loading or traveling fast. It can also add annoying black squares that interfere with the in-game camera.

Sony has kept things vague, with only the alleged fix (24.06-10.01.00) describing the update as improving “system software performance and stability.” Earlier this week IGN informed similar errors Star Wars Outlaws, Death Stranding and No Man’s Sky. It is not yet known if the update will fix the bugs of these games.

You can upgrade your PS5 with the title Settings > Systemafter System Software > System Software Update and Settings. Once the update appears, select it Update System Software. If you don’t see an available update (and you haven’t installed it yet), restart your console and try again.
