Chrome is getting a number of security updates that can improve your safety when browsing online. In a release, Google introduced protection from abusive notifications, limiting site permissions and reviews extensions.
Security CheckChrome’s security monitor will run continuously in the background to make it easier to take protective steps. The tool will tell you what steps it takes, including removing permissions from sites and sites you no longer visit. Google Safe Browsing believes it is tricking you into giving permission. It will also flag any alerts you don’t want and notify you of issues that need attention, such as security issues. Plus, Security Checkup on your desktop should warn you about any Chrome extensions that might pose a risk.
Google also reduces the number of ongoing permissions for sites Chrome for desktop computers or Android devices. The new feature will allow you to confirm access to the microphone or camera only once, not always for the site. Instead, they will have to ask for your permission again on the next use. Plus, Google is expanding the ability to unsubscribe from a site in Chrome with a button beyond Pixel devices to more Android.
