Sony looks set to announce the PS5 Pro today in a strangely short livestream

We probably won’t have to wait much longer to get all the official details on the PlayStation 5 Pro. There is Sony announced The PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation will air on September 10 at 11:00 a.m. ET PlayStation YouTube channel.

All signs point to this being the official launch of the PS5 Pro. PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny will host the broadcast, which will focus on “what’s new in PS5 and gaming technology.” This comes a few days after Sony teased a redesigned PS5 in an image that coincides with various PS5 Pro leaks. It was also expected that the company would Introducing the PS5 Pro in mid-September before the holiday shopping season.

Add all that up, plus the tagline “The Journey Continues” in the teaser video, and it’s pretty clear what’s in store. For what it’s worth, Cerny It detailed the features of the PS5 Live from behind the podium in 2020 (Sony had to pull out of a scheduled Game Developers Conference talk after the COVID-19 outbreak).

The The PS5 Pro rumor mill suggests that the mid-term update will provide improved and consistent frame rates at 4K resolution, as well as an 8K performance mode in supported games. Game rendering is said to be 45 percent faster than the standard PS5, while the Pro’s ray tracing capabilities are two to three times faster.
