Engadget’s own Billy Steele was on the ground in Cupertino and had a chance try new buds briefly and praised the noticeable addition on the high-end buds, but these will cost $50 more than the standard pair. The new average Apple AirPods 4 It has an H2 chip and now supports active noise cancellation and transparency mode like the higher-end AirPods Pro – although this feature is only available on the more expensive version of the buds. It’s $179 with ANC and $129 without it. If you go for the more expensive buds, they can also automatically change modes depending on your environment and turn down the volume when you start talking.
Other features include a new case that supports wireless charging or a wired USB-C connection. The box now also includes a speaker to help you find it under your bed or driver’s seat using the Find My app.
