Completing the expedition’s various missions over the course of six weeks will unlock customization options such as a deep-sea diving suit, a special fishing rod, and a nautical-themed Aquarius jet pack.
The developer says this leaves a huge variety of fish in the game “from common minnows to ferocious alien captures,” some of which can only be caught using fishing pots that can bait and trap rare ones. While you can fish recreationally, you can challenge yourself by completing fishing logs and participating in expedition quests to find the biggest catch of the day.
Finally, you can cook everything you catch using new recipes you can discover around No Man’s Sky universe. It looks like Hello Games is going to expand the game’s fishing mechanics, so we might get more gear, races and species to catch in the future.
