Microsoft is working on improving small-screen and touch-screen input, focusing on making it more accessible to Windows handheld console users (think ). The controller isn’t comfortable to type on, but it’s Microsoft’s latest It introduced a new on-screen keyboard layout that is very easy to use with the controls on an Xbox controller or portable gaming PC.
The new layout is not limited to moving cursors and selecting special buttons. For example, the X key can be used to go back, while the Y key is the space bar. The left trigger also opens the symbols and numbers page. It’s almost like a mobile keyboard, but optimized for use with an Xbox controller. Most importantly, all the keys are arranged vertically, making the keyboard easy to navigate.
Target users of this change include Windows handheld users and PC gamers who prefer to stick to an Xbox controller while playing games. This latest update follows another change that Microsoft made a few weeks ago to make the Windows Game Bar easier to use on handheld devices.
