While you can do almost anything on your phone or tablet, sometimes having a dedicated device is the best way to go. Opting for an e-reader can help reduce eye strain compared to staring at a smartphone screen for hours. The battery will also last longer and there will be no more distracting notifications. So if you’re someone who reads digital books and still haven’t gotten your hands on an ereader (or you’re tired of lugging around bulky copies), Amazon’s entry-level Kindle is worth a look.
I have a Kindle . Although this is not always a low price We saw it during Amazon’s Prime Day sale in July.
Amazon’s flagship Kindle is currently $15 off, a decent deal for our favorite budget reader.
The standard Kindle is our choice . With a six-inch, 300 dpi E Ink display, it’s Amazon’s lightest and most compact model right now.
The Kindle has 16 GB of storage, which makes it convenient for audiobooks. When you buy both an eBook and an audiobook from Amazon, you can easily switch between the two on your Kindle. Thanks to Whispersync, you can read a little in the park, then pick up where you left off with a narrated version on the way home.
You can customize the reading experience by adjusting factors like margins, font, and text size, and even save your preferences as a theme or preset. While turning pages is fast, we felt that the touchscreen gestures didn’t always perform the intended action consistently. It’s also worth noting that, unlike other Kindles, this one doesn’t have a waterproof rating, so you might want to be careful with it at the beach or pool.
In the meantime, here is another point worth noting. That model debuted in 2022, and Amazon is expected to host its annual fall hardware event in the coming weeks. Kindle is due for update so we can see the updated model there. That said, if you’re just looking for a relatively inexpensive reader, this is a good deal.
