Canadians thinking about catching a Chinese HOUSE may want to make a quick decision about it. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that the country will impose a 100 percent tariff on electric cars produced in China from October 1. The White House introduced a similar tax in the US earlier this year.
The additional tax will apply to electric cars, trucks, buses and delivery vans, as well as some hybrid models. Canada will also impose 25 percent tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum starting October 15.

“Thanks to our government’s choices and the hard work of hundreds of thousands of Canadian auto workers, we are making Canada’s auto sector a global leader in building the cars of tomorrow,” Trudeau said at a news conference. “But actors like China have chosen to give themselves an unfair advantage in the global marketplace, undermining the security of our critical industries and displacing Canadian auto and metal workers. That’s why we’re taking action to address that.”
