Google Essentials will house all Google services in a single Windows app


If you buy a new Hewlett-Packard laptop in the next few weeks, then you’ll see a new program called Google Essentials in the Start menu. Thursday, Google the new app will integrate some of its core services, such as Google Photos, Google Drive, and Google Messages.

The Google Essentials app will not only host shortcuts to your most used services, but will also centralize your Google account information and saved content such as documents, photos, and saved games for titles from Google Play Games. Eligible subscribers will also receive a two-month trial of 100GB of Google One cloud storage.

Google Essentials will only be available on Windows PCs starting with new Hewlett-Packard (HP) laptops, including models such as Spectre, Envy, Pavilion, OMEN, and Victus, according to blog posts. Google said it plans to make Essentials available on more Windows PC brands in the future.

The concept of a unified Google services application is very similar to the old one . A collection of Microsoft apps gave Windows users faster access to apps like Mail, Movie Maker, Messenger, and Writer. An archived version of the Windows Live Essentials installer is available here .
