Earlier this week, Valve launched which uses a feature called Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions (SOCD). It’s available on some Razer and Wooting keyboards, and if you play it, you’ll be kicked out of matches Counter-Strike 2 and the game detects that you are using it. Fortunately, Valve has no plans to ban Steam accounts at this time.
The Verge and confirmed that the game will ban you from matches if you play with SOCD. We still don’t recommend challenging Valve’s leniency, as admins still have the right to ban accounts from playing the game. Don’t come crying, thank you.
Razer calls the feature Snap Tap, while Wooting prefers the more endearing term Snappy Tappy. Valve’s post says that owners of these keyboards should disable the features to “avoid any interruptions to your matches.”
SOCD allows players to automate strafing, meaning they can move in two directions without releasing the first key. This means you can always get out of cover and out of harm’s way as quickly as game limits allow. For example, when you move left with the A button, pressing the D button without releasing the A button allows you to immediately go right. Also, your reticle expands as you move, so stopping quicker helps your aim. SOCD allows you to stop almost instantly, which can improve your headshot speed.
