Empty body It was one of the best at Steam Next Fest earlier this year and is coming out soon.
At a time when everyone is extremely worried upcoming Silent Hill 2 to do again, Empty body feels like a complete throwback to that PlayStation era of survival horror. In a near-future dystopia, you play as a black market runner who crashes his flying car into a terrifying UK housing estate full of strange happenings.
The game is presented in a semi-retro style – 90s vibes in modern technology – and cleverly uses fixed camera angles to build tension. The classic survival-horror game has its own twists, like logic puzzles and sporadic save points. There isn’t a ton in the way of combat, and it looks like there will be options to dial back the action even further to focus on creepy exploration instead.
Empty body is a new project from Nathan Hamley, who aims to create an entire game – story, art, code and even music – solo. He Raised over $35,000 on Kickstarter on the strength of the previous game, Static tracking, and a rather attractive trailer and pitch. From the Next Fest demo I played after reading A very positive post about it VG247How did his single focus on this project work? I hope these backers are happy.
I’m curious to see how the full game ends – and there’s not much time to wait. will be available on PC (Steam or GOG) September 12.
