Michael Myers may be dead and Ash Williams may be catapulted into the distant future, but they haven’t cut the screen in the here and now. Boss Level Games has announced the upcoming release of two new retro style games RetroRealms banner based on the classic slasher flick Halloween and the Starz horror comedy series Ash and the Evil Dead.
Retro Halloween and Ash and the Evil Dead titles will be released on October 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The Halloween The game puts players in control of a killing machine during the events of the original John Carpenter film as it slashes and slashes its way through Haddonfield, Illinois with its iconic butcher knife. The Ash and the Evil Dead The game casts players as a horror movie and TV series hero with a chainsaw attached to his arm and a cute boomstick against the onslaught of Deadites unleashed by the Necronomicon.
The games will be sold separately or together as part of a special “Dual Feature” bundle. There’s also a special “Collector’s Edition” that includes a physical copy of the game for your console of choice, two additional playable characters, including a physical copy of the game for Laurie Strode. Halloween and for Kelly Maxwell Ash and the Evil Dead – and a bunch of others Halloween Cool stuff like a 12 inch plush Michael Myers doll, digital copy Halloween game soundtrack, a package Halloween trading cards and more. According to Boss Team Games, the games tie together when both are installed via crossover access, where characters can be imported into both games, and an “ever-expanding universe of popular characters that unlock additional gameplay.”
Boss Team Games is one of the studios behind the popular asymmetrical survival horror multiplayer slasher. Evil Dead: The Game. The studio’s press release also notes that the two games will be “the first two releases in a series of new games for console and PC,” suggesting that more back-to-back game projects are in the works.
