Steve Huffman called on Microsoft to remove data from Reddit.
Reddit boss Steve Huffman called out Microsoft and other AI search engines, such as Anthropic and Perplexity, for not paying for the data their AI models pull from Reddit. “Without these agreements, we have no say or knowledge of how our data is displayed and what it is used for, which has now put us in the position of blocking people who don’t want to agree with us. We would like our data to be used or not to be used,” Huffman said in an interview The Verge. Reddit said it has updated its Robots Exclusion Protocol (robots.txt) to prevent unauthorized data breaches and has already stopped Microsoft’s Bing from accessing the social site’s data.

OpenAI has joined several entertainment industry groups in supporting the NO FAKES Act.
US senators have introduced a bill to combat the growing threat of deep fraud created by artificial intelligence. The legislation will make online platforms responsible for deep fake content by requiring them to label the material. If it passes, the NO FAKES Act would allow people to claim damages when their voice, face or body is recreated by artificial intelligence. Both individuals and companies will be liable for the production, posting or sharing of unauthorized digital replicas.
This follows a recent Senate decision it will allow victims of deep sex fraud to sue for damages.
