Apple and its Towson, Maryland retail store have unionized workers reached a preliminary agreement it can provide them with better pay, job security, improved scheduling to support work-life balance, and a more transparent disciplinary process. In 2022, the Towson location became the first Apple Store in the country to integrate, and in May voted to allow the strike against the company following “unsatisfactory” results of negotiations.
The International Coalition of Organized Retail Workers (IAM CORE) of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has announced that it is in talks with Apple starting in January 2023. Under the initial three-year deal they have now reached, workers will receive an average 10 percent raise. During the term of the contract, and for most positions, starting pay rates will increase. The contract would also specify a severance clause. The union represents about 85 workers who will vote on the deal on Aug. 6.
