Google confirms the Pixel 9 Pro Fold with a teaser video


Google has confirmed in a teaser video that its upcoming smartphone lineup will include a new foldable model. In its promo tweet, the company called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold “a folding phone built for the age of Gemini” and even highlighted its next-gen AI chatbot in a video. similar to the non-foldable Pixel 9 Pro, this model also has a prominent camera bump. Its lens is placed vertically near one side of the phone, so the camera bump is mostly there and doesn’t take up the entire width of the folded device.

Although Google has not yet officially introduced the model, previous leakCourtesy Android Authority, has already revealed many details about the upcoming Pixel 9 models. Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) has uploaded a gallery of each phone — the Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold — to its archive. Some of these photos feature an unlocked 9 Pro Fold, showing how Google moved the selfie camera to the internal screen for a wider field of view. They also reveal that the model’s display will have a reduced bezel, measuring 250mm or just under 10 inches.

NCC’s leak revealed that the upcoming devices will need bigger chargers. Although the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the slowest of them all, their charging rates are faster than previous models according to the agency’s tests. We will be able to confirm these details when Google unveils its new smartphones at the next Made by Google event on August 13.
