Hydrogen-powered air taxi completes 523-mile test


Joby Aviation said its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft has been successfully completed. 523-mile hydrogen-powered test flight.

The only byproduct of the prototype, which had a liquid hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen-electric propulsion system, was water vapor. The company proposed the test flight to signal the future of zero-emissions regional aviation in an industry that still relies heavily on fossil fuels. But he would say so.

This is probably the first eVTOL flight powered by liquid hydrogen. Joby Aviation modified an existing battery-powered air taxi by installing a fuel tank capable of holding up to 40 kilograms of liquid hydrogen to reduce the battery load for the craft.
