Amazon did it official this morning: Amazon Prime Day 2024 this year it will be on July 16 and 17. The shopping event will begin on Tuesday, July 16 at 12:01 PT/3:01 ET and end at the end of the day on Wednesday, July 17. As in the past few years, Prime Day will indeed last two full days, and it will bring thousands of exclusive, members-only deals on everything from electronics to home goods to fashion. If you can’t wait a few more weeks, there are some Prime Day discounts you can now shop.
In addition to driving large numbers of sales in a short period of time, Amazon Prime Day has always been a way for the online retail giant to increase its total number of Prime subscribers. Prime Day isn’t a feature of the service like access to Prime Video content or free two-day shipping, but it helps that most of the deals you’ll find on Amazon during the two-day event are only available to Prime members. . However, it’s worth noting that the cost of Prime has grown significantly since its debut in 2005: an annual membership will now set you back $139almost twice the price it was sold at ($79 per year).
Prime Day in July has been a major shopping event for Amazon for a decade now, but that hasn’t stopped the company from expanding the event’s reach. For the past few years, we’ve seen a sort of “Fall Prime Day” in October, presumably Amazon’s official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. There’s no word on whether October’s Big Day will return in 2024, but with most online retailers starting their holiday sales earlier and earlier in 2020, we think there’s a good chance it will return this year.
