Hamish Linklater is the new voice of Batman

Replacing a talent like the late Kevin Conroy, the man who voiced Batman in the fan favorites Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham game trilogy should be a monumental feat. Conroy’s deep, steady voice has defined the character for decades—it’s hard to just think of a Batman cartoon and not hear Conroy’s voice behind a microphone. Unfortunately, It’s 2022 and Batman must go on without him.

A new series is coming to Amazon Prime starting August 1st Batman: The Caped Crusader and Actor Hamish Linklater has announced that he will be voicing Batman/Bruce Wayne in the new noirish animated series. Linklater is known for his roles in films including Big Short and Messi at midnightand shows as the latest Apple+ limited series Human hunting, where he played President Abraham Lincoln.

Batman: The Caped Crusader aims to be more of an old detective story with the art style of the original 1939 comics. Linklater’s take on the character seems more tame to match the tone, and it will be interesting to see how the Batman show will work with a Mickey Spillane-like storytelling style.

No Batman movie or show is complete without his villains. So far, only three of the voice actors have been revealed: Christina Ricci will play Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Diedrich Bader will play Two-Face/Harvey Dent, and Jamie Chung will play Harley Quinn.

Based on the full cast list, there should be more villains on the list. The series will also feature the voices of McKenna Grace, Minnie Driver, Gary Anthony Williams, Tom Kenny, John DiMaggio and Michelle C. Bonilla. .
