The Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake arrives on November 14


Square-Enix’s old meets new reworking Dragon Quest III Coming to Switch on November 14th. In addition, the HD-2D remake will be joined by re-releases of its two predecessors in a trilogy next year. Dragon Quest I and Dragon Quest II, using the same innovative engine. The announcements came at Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct, which brought news The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Metroid Prime 4 and The land of Donkey Kong returns.

The Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake trailer and screenshots showcase the wonders of the game engine, combining 16-bit-style sprites and textures with modern environmental effects. The engine stays true to the original look and feel of the older games, but uses modern touches to make them even better. Square-Enix has already used the technology Octopath Traveler and its sequeltogether with Triangle strategythe Experience the live remake and the opera stage Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster.

Launching a third game in a trilogy sounds strange at first, but the prequel, originally released in 1988, was chronologically the first game in the game’s universe. HD-2D remakes of the first two entries, available in 1986 and 1987, will arrive as a game in 2025.
