The biggest announcements from Nintendo Direct


Nintendo avoided sharing the spotlight with all the other game companies Summer Games Festival last week, he promised his own Direct in June. And it happened yesterday, with Nintendo teasing a slew of new games alongside favorites. Mario games, yes. Zelda games, yes, even a new Metroid game have been confirmed. (More information about this is below the fold).

Funny thing is that the new Zelda game… Zelda. You play as a princess The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. It opens where most Zelda games end, with Link defeating Ganon. But as Princess Zelda sets free, our usual hero is blown into an alternate dimension. The game is played top-down and takes on an art style Link’s Awakening to do again. However, Zelda’s main weapon and tool is the trirod. With this, he can copy many items and use these “sounds” to travel the world. You can even create echoes of monsters for Zelda to fight.

Nintendo’s 40-minute update also includes upcoming release dates Dragon Quest redo, the name of the new Mario Party and news that cat adventure villain Coming to Switch.

The Solo Buds cover the basics, but that’s about it. Sound quality is flat unless you’re listening to Dolby Atmos content on Apple Music, but at least the headphones are comfortable with long battery life. Still, they only cost $80.

Fisker officially declared bankruptcy. The US-based startup has filed for Chapter 11 protection and plans to restructure its debt and sell its assets. That means an Alaska EV with a designated cowboy hat area — no joke — will likely never happen. In its latest report, Fisker announced that it will produce 10,193 units of its only existing EV vehicle, the Ocean SUV, in 2023, but only deliver 4,929 vehicles.

Habbo Hotel: Origin, Today, it brings the 2005 PC game to life on Mac in all its nostalgic glory. If you have ever played Habbo hotel 20 years ago, the game was, well, an online community in the format of a hotel. Your avatar can chat with friends in the virtual hotel lobby and spend in-game credits on furniture and accessories.

After 18 years and a complete reboot, Samus Aran will be back Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, next year. We also got our first look at gameplay, with Samus battling aliens in typical Metroid fashion. The teaser ends with the new big bad being revealed. He wears the same costume as our hero, but is surrounded by two floating metroids. Successful? Yes.
