Towards the end Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft presented a updated console row. For the first time, the company will launch an Xbox Series X without a disc drive in robotic white. It comes with 1 TB of storage and will cost $450. The original Series X has an MSRP of $500, but often goes on sale (Microsoft itself currently sells the console for $450).
Xbox Series X without disc drive it was long overdue. A leak in March suggested that fully digital robot white model was at work. As in the PS5 update Sony released last yearperhaps Microsoft will later offer a disc drive attachment for people who decide they want to play physical games on their X series.
A special edition Xbox Series X will also be available soon. This model in galaxy black has a disc drive and doubles the internal storage of the regular X series at 2 TB. It will come with a compatible controller and cost $600.
The Xbox Series S is getting a more modest update. Released by Microsoft Last year’s 1TB model in carbon black, and a version with the same memory and original color is ready. The 1TB robotic white variant will be offered in select markets and priced at $350. The company notes that the black model will be available “while supplies last,” indicating that it is phasing out the option.
Details on availability and regional pricing will be announced soon. Microsoft also said it has plans for controller designs compatible with certain games and more Xbox Series X console bundles.
