Messenger’s new community chats don’t need to be connected to Facebook groups

Meta will now allow you to create massive community conversations with people you have no connection with on Messenger. The company started operating in 2022 Community chats for Facebook Groups, gives people in the same groups an easy way to talk in real time. While this community feature is related to groups on the social network, it’s not a feature – it will allow you to use Discord-like Messenger to connect with up to 5,000 random people using the app.

The company did not publish an announcement, but confirmed that the new feature will be available TechCrunch. All community chats will be displayed in one place in the Messenger app, each with a “Home” area where admins can post updates and announcements. according to Meta’s Help page for the feature “not currently available for everyone or on all platforms”. If you see an option to create a new community in the left menu of your Messenger app on mobile, you’ll know if you’re a part of it.

If you create a community, you’ll have the power to remove someone from chat, report or delete content, and delete the conversation entirely. All members can issue shareable invitations, so communities have the potential to grow beyond the circle of initial participants. However, the fact that this flavor of Facebook chats is meant for public chats means you have to be more careful about what you share. Not only current members will be able to see what you say, but also future members that other people invite.

whom TechCrunch Notes, you can use the new option to create chats for schools, organizations, neighborhoods, and other groups with large numbers of potential members. It can be more convenient and better option than this WhatsApp’s similar community chats feature because the app needs to connect to the phone number.
