Google introduced it for the first time NotebookLM, its AI-powered research tool, in the summer of 2023, and now the company is expanding its capabilities and reach. Google made the announcement in a new blog post NotebookLM is officially running on Gemini 1.5 Pro, an upgrade from the original Gemini Pro model that brings many new features. Research and writing assistant has also expanded to more than 200 countries and territories.
NotebookLM it works differently than many other AI tools because it draws only from the resources you provide, rather than a lot of general knowledge. Research Assistant has always accepted files such as transcripts, research notes, and corporate documents from Google Docs or in PDF format, but now you can also download Google Slides and web URLs.
Other new features allow you to ask questions about pictures, charts and diagrams, in addition to including images in quotes as additional supporting evidence. Then there’s the push for internal citations, which now bring you directly to supporting links so you can confirm that the AI knows what it’s talking about. In addition, there is a Notebook Guide that will convert your sources into clear formats such as FAQs and briefing papers.
