E3 may be dead and buried but there is still plenty of gaming news to come in the coming days Summer Games Festival 2024 stands on the site of the old exhibition. The SGF has gradually become more important over the last few years as an umbrella for all the various gaming showcases that take place every June.
From June 7 to June 10, a series of SGF events will highlight dozens of games. All of the big announcements will be broadcast live to watch at home, but the SGF also has a personal component. Engadget will have boots on the ground to bring you some additional insights and our impressions of many of the games on display throughout the event.
For those of you who can enjoy the festivities from afar, here’s the lowdown on how to watch Summer Game Fest 2024 and what to expect.

We’ve seen some big announcements at the two-hour tentpole SGF showcase over the past few years, but it looks like the 2024 edition will be quieter. SGF organizer and presenter Geoff Keighley tried character expectations saying that most of what will be shown this year will be new information about previously announced games.
He confirmed it Monster Hunter WildsKingdom Come 2: Deliverance and Metaphor: Refantazio (a fantasy JRPG from the team behind Persona) will be in the spotlight for a while. Also on deck is a release date for a free-to-play co-op shooter first generation Check out the 3D fighter Dragon Ball: The Spark! Zero and check out the animated series Between Us.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Kingdom Hearts IV, The monster within us 2 and Ken Levine’s definitely not BioShock BioShock Judah will not be displayed. There will be some fresh revelations, though try to keep your hype level in check for this one. “Of course there are things that are announced, but it’s not a lot of shows like ‘coming in 2026’ or ‘2027’ or teasers for games that are years and years away,” he said.

Devs Day – June 7th, 7pm ET

Devs Day is a reliably great showcase of upcoming indie games. The team always manages to put together a collection of diverse and interesting titles. For example, last year’s edition of the Game Awards included previews Open Roads, Crow Country and Mars after midnight, all of which we have enjoyed so far this year. I’m inevitably adding at least four or five games from Devs Day to my Steam wishlist, so it’s definitely worth watching.

Devolver Direct – June 7th, 8pm ET

Devolver Digital’s annual helping of chaos is upon us once again. The publisher’s reliably insane Direct stream will include details on at least a few games. Here’s hoping we get the release dates The Plucky Squire and Skate Story, second, it’s been at the top of my to-play list for several years. Both titles are likely Coming in 2024, so now would be a great time to update. Keep your fingers crossed for details on the man-baby walk simulator Baby steps Among the “exciting new discoveries” Devolver has planned.

Xbox Games Showcase – June 9, 1pm ET
How to watch: YouTube and Twitch (ASL option)
This could be the biggest reveal of the week in terms of major game announcements. This is the first time that Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda and Activision Blizzard are part of one of these events.
Microsoft’s 2024 plan includes several games and major updates. We’ll likely get details or release dates soon Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, SureMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2024, Starfield and Diablo IV expansions and next season Overwatch 2. We hope to take a look at Arkane Lyon Knife the game too. Expect to hear about more titles and possibly additional first-party games on the way to Game Pass It’s making the jump to PlayStation and Switch.
For many, the main event will happen after the main showcase, like ours learn everything Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The next part of the series is likely to be shot during the Gulf War. This is the first Call of Duty game to be available on Game Pass on release day. This points to a huge risk for Microsoft in earlier sales of boxed copies of the game in favor of increasing the number of subscribers.

Ubisoft Forward – June 10, 3pm ET
How to watch: YouTube (with English subtitles, audio description and American Sign Language options) and Twitch
Monday will be a busy day for the Engadget team as we hit the road. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference keynote To Ubisoft Forward. The broadcaster has several major games lined up for the rest of the year Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadowsand promises an “exclusive look” at both.
XDefiant will receive the same treatment. We’ll probably hear about what’s next for some of Ubisoft’s other ongoing games, e.g Rainbow Six: Siege and Skull and bonesand maybe some future plans Division. Ubisoft Forward will have a pre-show and post-show, so the company has a lot going for it.

Nintendo Direct -?

The House That Mario Built has convinced the world that there will be a Nintendo Direct in June, but has yet to reveal the details. Something will happen no A factor in this showcase is the successor to the Nintendo Switch. While the company promised announcing its next flagship system by next Marchthat will not be the case here.

And that’s not all, friends. There are also a number of other showcases in the coming days. Hosted by Atlus YouTube streaming Friday at 9pm ET is dedicated to Metaphora: ReFantazio. There are a bunch to check out, especially on Saturdays The future of Play Direct, Healthy Direct (both have family-friendly games), the Latin American Games Expo and a Stream Games Led by Women. These will continue throughout the day starting at 11:00 a.m. ET. Sunday, PC Gaming Show It will follow the Call of Duty Direct at 4PM ET.
