Google Search chief Liz Reid admitted that the company’s search engine has returned some “Weird, inaccurate or useless AI Reviews” after the feature rolled out to everyone in the US.

Some of the worst AI Review results to do the rounds were fake, but the example of the glue on the pizza was as real as the viral answer to how many stones you should eat. Also real. Reid said Google came up with the answer when it came to a comedy satire site.
The problem for Google is that it can undermine trust in the search engine’s results and accuracy. Reid said the company tested the feature extensively before launch, but “there’s nothing like millions of people using the feature with many new searches.” Perhaps it was necessary to test a little more first.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a first-person shooter from a PlayStation studio. Finally, Firewalk Studios’ Concord the cover is broken. Firewalk says it’s focused on tight action, precision shooting, and a range of abilities — just as you’d expect from a studio led by former Destiny developers. It’s a five-on-five hero shooter and offers comparisons Overwatch 2 — is now a Microsoft-owned title. Expect 16 heroes, six game modes and some cutscenes between all the battles. It will be released on PS5 and PC on August 23, with a beta in July.
iOS 18, AI and more.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is right around the corner. Expect the company to reveal some key features of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, as well as what’s in store for watchOS, macOS, and visionOS at WWDC 2024. Expect all kinds of generative AI tricks—hopefully, even some compelling ones. I would have appreciated more image fill features in line with Google’s efforts on Android. It’s unlikely we’ll get any major hardware announcements at the event, but you’ll never know until Tim Cook wraps things up — maybe we’ll get a next-gen Vision Pro VR headset.
‘ThreadsDeck’ makes Threads on the web more accessible.
Meta is rolling out a new TweetDeck-like column view to all Threads users after it began testing the feature earlier this month. Dubbed ThreadsDeck by some Threads users, the new look allows you to pin up to 100 threads to the Threads home page. Each column can also be set to auto-update. Yes, it’s TweetDeck, but Threads. And you can more easily hide Threads’ junk for you. At least mine is particularly rubbish. Maybe the problem is with me.
