Intel has launched a new software application Thunderbolt Sharing this will make controlling two or more computers a more seamless experience. Its interface will allow you to sync files between computers or browse multiple computers’ folders so you can drag and drop and customize documents, images, and other file types. This makes collaboration easier between you and a colleague, especially if you’re transferring large files, such as raw photos or unedited videos. You can also use the program to transfer data from an old computer to a new one, so you don’t have to use an external drive to make the move easier.
When it comes to screen sharing, Intel says the software can save the source PC’s image uncompressed, provided the maximum specs reach Full HD at 60 frames per second. The mouse cursor and keyboard also remain smooth and responsive between computers thanks to the high throughput and low latency of Thunderbolt technology.
The company said it is licensing Thunderbolt Share to OEMs as a value-added feature for their future PCs and accessories. You will need computers with Windows Thunderbolt 4 or 5 ports to use it, and they must be connected directly with a Thunderbolt cable or connected to the same Thunderbolt dock or monitor. The first devices to support the app will be available in the second half of 2024 and will come from a variety of manufacturers including Lenovo, Acer, MSI, Razer, Kensington and Belkin.
